Novel born out of a nightmare!
R.L.Stevenson threw the first version of his macabre masterpiece titled The strange case of Dr. Jekyll
and Mr. Hyde on fire and burnt it to ash.
His American wife Fanny disliked the novel. A quarrel ensued and in a fit of temper, he threw his work
into a fire.
The unusual plot for the novel occurred to the Scottish writer in one of his nightmares in 1885!
He sat and wrote the whole novel in three days and three nights non-stop!
He resented his hasty action later. He sat and wrote the 30,000 words again in just three days.
The book was published as a Shilling Shocker in 1886.
