American cartoonist E.C. Segar, introduced a cartoon creature called Eugene the Jeep, in his popular cartoon strip. Jeep was a tough little animal which lived on orchids and could become invisible.

A few years later U.S.Army Transport contract was given to the Willy’s company in Ohio, for producing powerful open topped four seated vehicles. The vehicle was just 11 feet long but could practically go anywhere.

Soldier loved this rugged and fantastic vehicle and were happy to give it the name of the fantasy creature jeep.
